How long does good artificial turf last?+
15+ years for premium turf installed on a proper 3–4 inch engineered base. Cheap turf on a thin base fails in 4–6 years.
Does it get too hot in summer?+
Premium turf with cooling infill stays meaningfully cooler than cheap turf. Light watering on the hottest afternoons drops surface temps another 30°.
Will it work for my dogs?+
Yes — pet-rated turf uses antimicrobial infill and dedicated drainage. It cleans up easily, and it doesn't trap odors when installed correctly.
How do I clean and maintain my artificial turf?+
Weekly: rinse with a hose to flush dust and light debris. Monthly: brush blades upright with a stiff-bristle broom to prevent matting — especially in high-traffic paths and near patio edges. As needed: blow off leaves with a leaf blower on low, or pick up solids if you have pets. Every 3–5 years in busy areas: add a light layer of infill sand and brush it in to restore blade support and a lush look. Twice yearly: a deeper rinse and inspection of drainage edges. No mowing, no fertilizing, no re-seeding — ever.
Does dog urine stain or damage the turf?+
Not with our pet-rated spec. The antimicrobial Envirofill infill and flow-through backing drain urine before it can crystallize on the surface. A weekly rinse keeps it fresh. Cheap turf on compacted soil will yellow and smell within months — that's why we engineer the base properly from day one.
How do I keep turf from smelling with pets?+
Rinse 1–2 times per week to flush urine through the drainage base. Spray an enzyme treatment every 2–4 weeks to neutralize odor at the source. The antimicrobial infill does most of the work — routine rinsing does the rest. For multi-dog households we add extra drainage and a dedicated relief zone.
Can I use a pressure washer on artificial turf?+
Yes — on low setting, held 12+ inches above the surface, at a shallow angle. It's the fastest way to deep-clean after monsoon dust storms or heavy use. Just avoid blasting directly into the infill or you can displace it. We demonstrate the right technique during walkthrough.
How do I handle leaves, dust, and monsoon debris?+
A leaf blower on low clears most debris in seconds. For dust and light dirt, a hose rinse does the job. Turf doesn't stain from leaves, Palo Verde flowers, or dust the way concrete or pavers do. After heavy monsoons, a quick rinse restores the look. Adding a small rock border around the turf edge helps reduce dirt wash-in.
How long before the infill needs to be replaced?+
Premium antimicrobial infill lasts 8–12 years in residential use. Heavy commercial or high-pet-traffic areas might need a top-dress at year 5–6. It's a quick additive process — we can replenish during a routine service visit without disturbing the turf.
Should I hire professional turf maintenance?+
Most homeowners self-maintain with rinses and monthly brushing. We offer an annual professional service that includes power rinsing, enzyme deep-clean, blade grooming, infill depth check, and drainage inspection — a good refresh before summer heat and holiday entertaining.
